Project description:
The EU Digital Identity Wallet (EUDIW) is a unified digital identity solution that will provide citizens across the European Union with secure online identification and electronic signatures. The EUDIW mobile app will provide users with a centralised location for accessing personal identity data and documents, such as passports, driving licences, and educational diplomas. Users will have full control over which information is shared with public and private sector service providers.
Project objective:
The project aims to ensure Latvia's compliance with Regulation (EU) 2024/1183 of the European Parliament and of the Council (eIDAS 2.0), which stipulates that, by the end of 2026, all EU Member States must provide at least one certified European digital identity solution. In Latvia, the aim of the solution is to create a universal and secure access mechanism for digital services in the public and private sectors.
